Dale Mitchell: First time in Europe (2/4)

Her kommer anden del ud af fire af interviewet med Dale Mitchell.
Her får vi lidt at vide omkring Dales første tur til Europa.

Back in 2012-2013 you played for Dornbirner EC in Austria.

How was it like to move to a different continent?
It was awesome. Austria is a beautiful country. It was an adjustment at first but there was almost 10 north americans on the team so it made it an easy transition to play hockey from North America

Austria is a very beautiful country
What did you like most about Austria?
I loved seeing the mountians everyday. The people were very friendly and almost everywhere, people spoke english well. Zurich was also only an hour away from Dornbirn so that was another beautiful place to see. The Hockey was very competive and good.

What did you not like about Austria?
[Ha] well playing in Dornbirn in was far away from a lot of teams so we had long bus trips like 6/7 and sometimes 8/9 hours. So that can take a toll on the body when you're expected to play at a high level.

Did you learn something from that journey?
I learned that there was a lot of good hockey players out there and not to take for granted that playing hockey for money is a privilege.

After you played a season for Dornbirner, you went back to ECHL.

Did you know that you wanted to get back to Europe and play again?
I thought for sure I was going to go back to Europe after my season but things did'nt work out as I hoped so i thought I'd give North America one last chance to maybe try and get called up to the AHL

What did you find to be the biggest difference between playing in NA and Europe?
Well in NA you play a lot more games so you don't have as much time off or practices as you do in Europe. I liked the bigger ice in Europe but that I can see it being tought for some guys to get use to.
