Dale Mitchell: Back in the days (1/4)

Første del her, vil handle om Dale mitchells ungdom, og derfor hedder denne del: Back in the days.

Jeg håber at I kan lide det.

Back in the days.

Growing up back in Canada
At what age did you start skating and playing hockey?
As far as I know I started skating at the age of 2 and was playing hockey at 4 or 5 years old

What role did hockey play for you back when you were young?
Hockey was fun, it still is fun but it kept myself busy from an early age and I was able to stay out of trouble

What is your favorite memory from your early days of playing hockey?
My favorite memories from youth hockey was going to all the different tournments around North America to see different places at a young age. Not many kids get that opportunity to do that

When did you realize that you wanted to be a professional hockey player?
I am not sure exactly when but I think from the time I could remember watching the Toronto Maple Leafs on TV. I said "I hope to be there one day".

Did you have a favorite team and why that team?
I liked the Toronto Maple Leafs. I cheer for them more now than when I was younger. I mostly cheered for my favorite player Paul Kariya when I was young

Did you have an idol on the ice?
My favourtie player was Paul Kariya. He was always working hard and made the Anahiem Ducks popular even when they were doing poorly when they first came in the NHL.

What about an idol outside of the rink?
I never had an idol growing up but I'd have to say my mom now. She spend so much time and money on me to live out my dream and there is nothing more someone could ask for than that.

In your late teenage years, you got drafted by Toronto Maple Leafs.

Do you remember the day and how you felt?

I was at the draft in Columbus with my mom and I will never forget the moment my name was called out. Though it never worked out, i'll never have any hard feelings towards my favorite team [ha].

What does it mean to you that you were drafted for the NHL?
It was a goal my whole life. A dream would have been to play but it's ok. I'll always remember the times going to training camp and seeing players you watched your whole life sitting in the same room as you.
