Former Bridgeport Sound Tiger Robert Nilsson scored twice in a shootout to lift the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 victory in Bridgeport at Friday night. The Sound Tigers failed to win for the sixth straight game but picked up a point to move into sole possession of fourth place in the East Division standings before an Arena at Harbor Yard crowd of 4,250. The Penguins improved to 39-16-2-4 and the Sound Tigers dropped to 28-26-1-5 in their 25th one-goal game of the campaign.

The Sound Tigers overcame a pair of one-goal deficits to force overtime. Peter Ratchuk scored a power play goal for a 1-0 Penguins lead 9:02 into the second period. Sound Tiger Allan Rourke was credited with the game-tying goal during a penalty kill after Penguins' goaltender Nolan Schafer mishandled the puck and stick-handled it into his own net at 3:53 of the third.

Ratchuk set up Jason Deitsch for his first career American Hockey League goal and a 2-1 Pens lead at 13:02 of the third. Ryan Stone, who assisted the first goal, also had a helper on Deitsch's tally. The Sound Tigers responded when Frans Nielsen scored his 14th goal at 15:31 to knot the score at two apiece.

In the shootout, Nilsson, playing his first game in Bridgport since a recent trade, scored in the first round and the decisive sixth round. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Kurtis McLean and Bridgeport's Frans Nielsen both scored in the third round and Sound Tiger Eric Boguniecki extended the shootout with a goal in the fifth round.

Schaefer made 26 regulation saves and didn't face a shot in the four-on-four overtime; his counterpart, Wade Dubielewicz stopped 37 regulation and OT shots (including three in the extra session). The Pens outshot the Sound Tigers 39-28. The Penguins were 1-for-4 on the power play and the Sound Tigers were held scoreless during just one man advantage as Nilsson's first period hooking minor was the only infraction of the game for the visitors.
