Grønvaldt draftet som nummer 57

"Simon Grønvaldt fra Rødovre blev draftet som nr.: 57 af Kitchener Rangers i den årlige CHL import draft. Den unge back kan draftes til NHL næste år."

Gronvaldt played last season with the Rodovre Mighty Bulls of the Denmark Superligaen and recorded one goal, three assists and six penalty minutes in 40 games. He also suited up for Denmark alongside Rangers winger Mikkel Boedker at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships where he picked up one assist and six penalty minutes in six games.
Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott describes Gronvaldt as a "big, strong, smooth-skating defenceman who has an above-average skill set." He added "He will complement our back end and I look forward to working with Simon the next three years."
